Gerrit Vink, B.Eng., GSC
President, PrincipalKnowing how to work closely with teams and drawing on the strengths of individuals is what Gerrit is well known for with clients and Farmer. Born and raised Victoria, Gerrit is well versed on the island’s construction nuances.
He began his career with Farmer working on site at Shoal Point for four years followed by Dockside Green and numerous other well known Victoria landmarks. As part of Farmers’ succession plan, Gerrit was promoted to Manager of Operations in 2006. In 2016, Gerrit purchased Farmer and continues working on the business as its President.
As your first point of contact, you can expect Gerrit to take responsibility for how the job gets done, to listen and respond to any project issues, and to celebrate with the team at the completion of a job well done.
Matthew Clayton
Chief Executive Officer, PrincipalMatthew was born and raised in Victoria and graduated Mount Douglas Secondary. He earned a Division 1 NCAA scholarship to play men’s varsity golf at the University of Texas El Paso (UTEP), where he studied business and education.
Matthew has been managing and building companies in both the private and public sectors for over twenty-five years. His career has taken him into a multitude of industries, including construction, aviation, biotech, nutritional sciences, and transportation. He has worked extensively with Coastal First Nations, driving economic development, employment and skills training, and strategic partnerships for some of the most significant industrial projects in Canadian history.
His additional experience includes being a co-founder of bioLytical Laboratories, a private medical diagnostic company located in Richmond, BC, focusing on the rapid detection of antibodies within HIV, hepatitis, and recently COVID-19. This company holds approvals in more than sixty countries worldwide, including Canada, Mexico, EU member countries, and the United States.
Matthew proudly sits on the Board of the Washington Kids Foundation, providing youth access to sports and recreational activities in safe environments for children in need.
